The sexy model Petra is in a photo shoot for Sports Illustrated. Something I learned today about Petra from PetraNemcovaFans:

During the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake, Petra was at the Khao Lak resort in Thailand with her photographer boyfriend, Simon Atlee when a tsunami struck where they were staying.

Atlee was killed, and Nemcova suffered a broken pelvis and serious internal injuries, but managed to hold onto the top of a palm tree, reportedly for eight hours, until she was rescued and airlifted to an island hospital nearby.

Wow, I was floored when I read about her story and this unbelievable ordeal she lived through.

Chickipedia says:

Glamour magazine awarded NÄ›mcovÃ¡ a “Survivor Award” in 2005 for the way she picked up her life following her tsunami ordeal; her comeback being complete with her appearance in the 2006 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. She also appeared in the 2007 British FHM calendar as Miss May. She is now the host of TLC’s A Model Life.

The scars are probably more emotional then physical for this beauty. She is truly a survivor of something most of us can’t even imagine.. brave and beautiful!
